There are no words quite big enough to capture the gratitude I feel for Hannah Murphy, the owner and soul behind Blank Canvas Photo Co. Hannah wasn’t just our birth photographer — she became my biggest cheerleader, a gentle source of strength, and an irreplaceable friend during one of the most emotional and transformative moments of my life: the birth of my son.

From the very beginning, Hannah was all-in.

We had originally planned to do a maternity shoot with Hannah and she was so incredibly patient and flexible through all the chaos leading up to it. From bad weather to my makeup and hair artist bailing on me last minute, it felt like everything kept getting in the way—but Hannah never once made me feel like a burden. She was always willing to reschedule and adjust to times that worked better for us. Sadly, we never got the chance to make it happen, because on the very last day we had scheduled the shoot, I was unexpectedly told I needed to be emergency induced. Even though we missed out on the maternity session, I’ll forever be grateful for Hannah’s kindness and understanding through it all.

I was lucky enough to be her very first birth photography client, and it felt like fate. When my birth plans took a sudden turn — an emergency induction, six days before my due date — Hannah never missed a beat. She rearranged her schedule and was practically on call, staying in constant communication with me as things unfolded. She showed up not just with her camera, but with her heart.

The photos Hannah took are beyond beautiful. They are sacred. They captured not just moments, but emotions, strength, love, and transformation — from quiet intimacy between my husband and I, to the raw, powerful, and beautiful reality of birth. Every time I look at them, I cry. They remind me of everything I endured and everything I gained. They bring me right back to the moment I became a mother.

Hannah also did a Fresh 48 photoshoot of our son, and the pictures are absolutely stunning. One of them is now the background on my phone — a daily reminder of the sweetness of those first moments. I never want to forget them, and because of Hannah, I never will.

But beyond the camera, Hannah was everything I didn’t even know I would need. She held and comforted my baby when I had to take care of some very real postpartum stuff (iykyk), and she stepped in gently when my husband, a first-time dad, was having a tough moment trying to soothe our son. Her care was so natural, so supportive — I trusted her completely.

After the birth, she surprised me with the most thoughtful after-birth gift: postpartum supplies, baby items (including something to help my son sleep more peacefully in his bassinet), and even a Coke bottle with my son's name on it — she remembered that Coke was one of my pregnancy cravings. It brought tears to my eyes. It meant the world.

We’ve since hired Hannah for another incredibly special moment — photographing our son's first meeting with his grandparents, my in-laws. I already know it’s going breath taking. Because when Hannah is behind the lens, it’s not just a photo—it’s a moment frozen in time, full of emotion, beauty, and love.

But beyond her incredible talent behind the camera, it was the way she supported me through it all that touched my heart.

Hannah, thank you. Thank you for being my photographer, my supporter, and my friend. You are one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met, and I’ll treasure these photos—and your friendship—forever.

Hannah did my maternity photo shoot and I am so unbelievably in love with how they turned out! This is my first pregnancy and so capturing every moment of it has been so important and Hannah helped in the best way possible! The amount of pictures, the quality of pictures, the time should took to drive to our location, her usage of lighting, the way she made us laugh, seriously everything was perfect!
